Cheers from the children when Per drives his Terri

In western Jönköping, a football pitch is currently being built for Mariebo IK. The pitch will be the closest neighbour of Stadsparken, the city park. Trees have been felled and the timber has been forwarded out. You can hardly tell that Per Axelsson has been in the beautiful wooded park with his forwarder.

Just above Stadsparken, on the western side, lies Mariebovallen. This is where one of the city’s largest youth clubs trains and plays. Jönköping is growing steadily, not least in this part of town. Mariebo IK notices it. The youngest age groups get bigger every year. Welcome news, of course, but it also means that the pressure on training areas has increased steadily.

This year an old, worn-out artificial grass pitch will be rebuilt. New artificial grass will be laid, and the former 7-a-side pitch will be extended and turned into three 5-a-side pitches. This will give the teams perfect opportunities to train and play more or less all year round.

Mariebovallen is located on municipal land and is the closest neighbour of Stadsparken. To make the new arena a reality, a number of trees had to be felled.
– I have been here for a few days forwarding out the timber and all the logging residues. I have a fantastic job. The focus is not to fell as much as possible; for me it is about doing a good job. If you drive in Stadsparken, for example, ideally nobody should be able to tell you have been there, says Per.

Per is employed by Jönköping Municipality, and four years ago the tracked forwarder, a Terri 34, was purchased.
– It is fantastic to drive on wetlands. Sometimes I climb out of the machine and find my boots disappearing. But the machine gets through.

What kind of driving do you do?
– Very varied. Everything from thinning to pure final felling. This is not a machine optimised for final felling, but it actually works very well. The crane (Mowi P30) seems to be able to handle any amount.
