After 60 years in the forest – Göran has now found the right machine
One week of test driving – and then there was no question about it. Göran Bengtsson had found his forest machine. In November the wheeled combi became his, and now, just over a month later, he shares his impressions of what it is like to drive.
– It is something completely different from what I am used to, says Göran, who has now turned 84.
If Göran does not know it about forestry, it is not worth knowing. The forest has been his workplace since the 1960s, but it was not until 2020 that he discovered all the advantages of Terri’s red machines, when he bought a wheeled combi.
– It is incredibly agile and easy to drive. The only thing I have not quite got the hang of yet is the computer. But that will come in time, he says.
Over the years he has worked both at home and in his customers’ forests. The new machine, however, will only be used on his son Torbjörn’s farm in Åbogen, outside Älmhult.
– Actually, it is my son who owns both the farm and the machine. I am just the operator and do a bit of thinning, says Göran, and talks about the advantages of living so close to the Terri factory:
– That is the beauty of it. If anything comes up, I just drive the machine down there. It is a luxury to have the manufacturer so close at hand.
What do you like best about the machine?
– The harvester head, without a doubt. It is absolutely fantastic. I have driven with a processor before, and it was not always easy among crooked birches. The machine runs beautifully.
