From car mechanic to forest machine specialist
Filip Fredriksson, who lives in Smålandsstenar, began his career as a car mechanic after studying the vehicle and transport programme at upper secondary school. After a few years he advanced to truck mechanic and eventually also began repairing forest machines.
Already during his time at the workshop, Filip had a couple of loyal customers who drove Terri machines. Customers who went on to recommend him to other forest machine owners, and soon word spread about how knowledgeable and helpful Filip was as a mechanic. Word also reached Terri, who got in touch with Filip in the hope that he would like to become an important cog in the growing Terri team. “That was the start of a great collaboration that changed the way I work.” says Filip, who at that point had taken the step of starting his own business as a mobile service provider.
Filip is an invaluable addition to Terri. By offering his expertise and mobile service, he helps to strengthen Terri’s reputation as a manufacturer of high-quality, easy-to-service forest machines.
“The best thing about working with Terri is the fast support and the well-built machines,” says Filip. “Should a situation arise where my knowledge isn’t enough, Terri are fantastic at stepping in to help.”
One of the things that sets the Terri machines apart, according to Filip, is how easy they are to service. “They are built in a well thought-out way that makes it easy for us mechanics,” says Filip. He particularly appreciates how stable the machines are, the spacious cabs and the high ground clearance of 70 centimetres – something that is quite unusual for smaller forest machines.
Another important part of Filip’s work is the regular training he receives through Terri. “Of course, we also receive training with subcontractors such as Log Max, who manufacture the harvester heads for Terri. It is important to stay up to date with the latest technology to be able to give forest machine owners the best support,” says Filip.
Filip values the close relationship he has with his customers. “I currently help around ten Terri customers, and I always try to adapt to their needs. The best thing about my job is that I get to meet so many nice people and get to know each other – that is what makes my work so enjoyable.”
The forest machine industry is constantly changing, and Filip has a positive view of the developments taking place. “We are moving towards more sustainable logging, and smaller machines like Terri can take on jobs that the big machines cannot handle,” he says.
