Staffans Maskin AB – a genuine family business in Horred

In Horred, a small town in Västra Götaland, you will find Staffans Maskiner AB – a family business with roots going back to 1978. Here, at one of the company’s three sites, Per-Erik Börjesson works as a mobile mechanic. He has been part of the team since 2007. With his long experience and reassuring personality, he is an invaluable asset to the company and has also become an important resource for Terri.

The collaboration between Terri and Staffans Maskiner began when a loyal customer of the workshop invested in a new harvester and forwarder from Terri almost two years ago.

“The customer had used us as their workshop for several years and, in connection with the purchase, contacted Terri and suggested us as service provider. That is a very good recommendation for us, and it also felt like an enjoyable collaboration to start, and one that came to suit us well,” says Per-Erik.

As a mobile service provider, Per-Erik drives a service van and is always ready to go out and help his customers on site when needed. “That is crucial when the operators need help. It is about solving problems as quickly as possible so that they can keep working.”

Per-Erik’s impression is that customers who own Terri machines are very satisfied. “They say that they are really pleased and that they find the machines both robust and efficient. Many also see the advantage of the machines having eight wheels – which means that the ground the machine drives on is subjected to more even pressure and is therefore not destroyed,” says Per-Erik. “That is a characteristic that is becoming increasingly important in today’s forestry, where sustainability is clearly in focus. A smaller machine also requires narrower strip roads, which means you can save more trees, which in turn leads to more sustainable thinning. You can tell that more and more contractors have discovered the advantages of smaller forest machines – it is without doubt a growing market.”

When it comes to Terri’s forest machines, Per-Erik has a positive view. “The Terri machines are very well built and well thought-out, which makes them easy to service,” he says. “The hydraulic transmission is a big advantage because it minimises the number of parts that can break. Likewise, the smaller volumes for oil changes are always a big advantage when you work as a mechanic.” Per-Erik emphasises the importance of Terri listening to the needs of its customers and mechanics. “They are always quick to help us, which makes the collaboration smooth, and they are never afraid to test new ideas if we get feedback from our customers,” he says.

To stay up to date and be able to service the Terri machines correctly, Per-Erik attends training courses that Terri organises at regular intervals. Subcontractors also attend and teach about their specific machine parts that are included in a Terri. “It is of course really important that we always have the latest knowledge about the machines,” he says.

Looking ahead, Per-Erik sees positive developments in the forest machine industry. “It seems that more and more people are asking for smaller machines these days, and that creates new opportunities.” He hopes that the market in the region will grow and that more Terri machines will roll out into the forests around Horred. “It will be great when we have more machines and customers to work with – developments in the forest machine industry are always an exciting journey to be part of,” he concludes.
