KT Fordonsteknik – a workshop growing with Terri
In the heart of Vittsjö, a town north of Hässleholm, you will find the KT Fordonsteknik workshop. Kristian Trudesson is the third-generation owner after his father and grandfather, who founded the company in the 1980s.
When the company started, it serviced everything from lawnmowers to tractors, but since Kristian took over in 2011 the focus has shifted, and the company now focuses entirely on heavier machinery such as forestry and construction machines. Over the years the workshop has been expanded, and today the company has three employees.
“We work throughout Skåne, Blekinge and large parts of Småland,” says Kristian. “We are mobile and make sure that we always have a technician out in the field so that we can respond quickly to our customers’ needs. Machine downtime is one of the worst things that can happen to our customers, so our goal is always to be on site quickly.”
The collaboration between KT Fordonsteknik and Terri began in 2018. It started when one of the workshop’s customers bought a Terri machine. Kristian was then contacted by Terri’s owner at the time, Hans Johansson, which led to a collaboration between the companies. Today KT Fordonsteknik plays a central role in the maintenance of Terri machines in the region, and Kristian appreciates the close contact with the company.
“We are in contact with Terri more or less daily, and since we have a lot of Terri machines in our area, it is by far the largest part of our business and also the part we want to focus on most. We think it is an enjoyable journey to be part of. Personally, I have great faith in Terri. It is a machine that is in tune with the times and that, despite the pandemic, war and other unrest around the world, is holding steady in the market. More and more contractors want small, agile machines with low ground impact, and Terri has really succeeded in that. They are the best in their category,” says Kristian. “Their purpose-built chassis and bogie boxes make the machine extremely stable with high ground clearance. Comfort in the cab is also important for those who operate the machine all day,” he continues. “Smaller forest machines are cheaper to run and contribute to more sustainable logging. With their high ground clearance, Terri’s machines take on difficult terrain such as bogs, dense forests and the like without any problems. Stability and robustness are what our customers really appreciate. In addition, the machines are easy to service, and we always have spare parts available here, which means that we can act quickly when needed.”
But Kristian also sees challenges ahead in the forest industry. One of them is attracting the younger generation to the industry.
“Many of our experienced operators are getting older, so it is important to attract young talent,” he says. “Times are changing, and we need to make the machines both comfortable and user-friendly to attract new operators, and I think comfort in the cab is one of the most important things for attracting the younger generation. Terri is at the forefront here too, both in terms of comfort and ergonomics.”
The collaboration between KT Fordonsteknik and Terri has proven valuable for both parties. By listening to feedback from customers, they can make improvements quickly. “At the end of the day, it doesn’t actually matter how good a machine is – without good service it stands still. Terri is a company that sees its customers and invests a lot in development. It is incredibly exciting that we get to be part of that,” Kristian concludes.
